Swansea City AFC, also known as the Swans, is a professional football club based in Swansea, Wales. The club was founded in 1912 and currently competes in the English Football League Championship, the second tier of English football.
The Swans have had a relatively successful history, having won the Football League Trophy in 2006 and the Football League Cup in 2013. They also gained promotion to the English Premier League in 2011, becoming the first Welsh club to play in the top tier of English football. Previous names for the stadium include the White Rock Stadium while under construction, it then became New Stadium Swansea in 2005 before gaining it’s best known title as the Liberty Stadium in 2005. This title remained until 2021 before it became the Swansea.com stadium which remains in 2023.
